You could hold a cookie exchange by mail. Give me a few weeks to detox the sugar out of my system and we can talk. I grew up making the spritz cookies too! I loved the ones that looked like flowers. I have no memory of making the dough, but I'm sure someone does.

Allison,
I would store the milk 5-7 days in the refrigerator. Depending on how cold your fridge is, it may last longer. Once it starts to smell sour, I wouldn't use it anymore. Luckily, quinoa cooks quickly and it's not hard to make a new batch.

Oh, I love cookie exchanges! I wish it was reasonable to hold such a thing by mail. I hear you about too much sugar, but I think the holidays bring out the evil sugar maniac in me and it's hard to stop.
My mom and I always used to make spritz cookies with a cookie press and differently shaped dies. I need to figure out how to veganize them. (They were pretty eggy, I think.)

Thanks for the comments. Traci: the mushroom plugs you can buy online (ebay!). Just do a google search for mushroom plugs. I'm not sure of anyone's reputation online. I know people from The Farm in Tennessee and they sell mushroom kits--support them if you can! http://www.mushroompeople.com/

I have a homemade tempeh recipe here: http://www.kimmykokonut.com/2007/06/14/tempeh-process-6/

It only takes a day and a half to make and most of it is passive time. The active time is maybe an hour. I prefer homemade (it freezes well) for the flavor, freshness and cheapness. I can't imagine brined tempeh! Sounds too intense. I got my culture online at GEM Culture.

looks really yummy! thanks for the link and review of the recipe.

sandwiches are my favorite lunch food. though I don't eat them that often. when i was little, the school cafeteria would start winding down and only serve sandwiches for the last 2 weeks. that was my favorite time of the year.

that's a great idea. I always make the right amount of rice, no extras. which doesn't make sense. being a pineapple hound, I'd put some of that in your fried rice :)
