I'm glad I'm not the only one on fat-overload from her cookbook. After the first soup experience, I now only add half the oil and add more to taste. Usually when I have a cookbook and I'm not impressed with a handful of recipes I tend to give up on the whole thing...but I'll give the risotto recipe a try. The breakfast cakes on your blog look delicious as well!
I think a raw fast is really interesting. I wonder what sort of experience we would have had if we cut down on the fat intake (we did, naturally, by not wanting to eat much of the fatty food) and looked for other recipes. I know there are plenty of books dedicated to raw detoxing but haven't read them. Perhaps they cover the oil issue.
I felt better on my juice fast than the raw days. At least when I wasn't eating any solids I wasn't craving bread and beans as much.

i hear you on the oil content of ani phyo's recipes... it was really overwhelming and i found it difficult to eat more than a few swallows (i've made the "gazpacho" which was really more of a cream of tomato soup, and the mushroom bisque). her flaxcakes are really good though (and incredibly filling). i have a pretty good blender, but also not a vitamix, and i feel that made a lot of things grittier than i wanted (like you, esp the almond yogurt). i ponder straining some of these things with my nutmilk bag, but by the time everything is blended i don't really want to add another dish to the process. i do recommend the risotto recipe, though (cutting back on the truffle oil to just a couple drops)

i am going to attempt a raw or high-raw fast at the end of june, so it was nice to get a new and honest perspective on how it made you feel during your five days.
